More serious update, A. Ho September 25, 2009
Some of you should know (though most of you don't) that I'm facing great pressure these days. I'd like to complete the final touches on the Apollonian 2009 asap, so that I can get a pre-print in no time. But this is often intervened by the constant school work I face. Looking at BDS III's timetable, we can see it's really going to be a tough semester. Root planning, RPD, extraction, orthodontics, ... These courses are all crammed into this semester. And I haven't really started reading what I should read seriously. What am I going to do?
Btw, it's polyclinic today. Since Alen, my seemingly-mixed patient, is not coming back today, I asked another patient to come back, which is a disaster. Whenever I see this patient, I just don't have a single idea what I should do. Angus gave me a very good suggestion though: refer this patient to BDS II. Well well well, it's a good suggestion, and I'll think abt that seriously.
A. Ho (not Angus Ho) gave me another very good suggestion today. When I asked her what I should do with the patient's tooth, she said, "two options: extract or not extract." "What's the prognosis of the tooth?" She asked. "Not good," I replied. "So whether or not you extract it now, it may need extraction eventually. Don't waste your time doing RCT, root planning, …" So, this is the treatment plan of my patient.
And the reason why we don't have school uniform party among BDS '12:
1) Basically we wear uniform every day; and
2) half of the class didn't use to have school uniform.
Update September 20, 2009
"You haven't updated your blog for more than a week," said Thomas.
That's true. Well, guys, if you know it's 5.43 am on 21st morning, perhaps u'd excuse me for that.
If you wouldn't, what if I let you see another sneak peek of Apollonian?
Polyclinic September 11, 2009
This is a conversation among three post-grad students I heard as I took the lift to polyclinic:
A: Do you know why the Dean's talk is cancelled?
B: No, why?
A: He got the swine flu.
B: Oh really?
C: Isn't he just about to give a talk on swine flu?
(laugh)
A: Ya, that's ironic enough, isn't it?
Whether this is true or not, the conversation is amusing enough to make everything else happened today secondary.
iTunes 9, skipped class, tutoring, more September 10, 2009
It's been a few days, again, since my last entry. Life is not so exciting these days, making me reluctant to write. By not exciting, I mean school days, boring readings and so on all wash my creativity away. I'm less willing to work on Apollon than I did in summer, and right now I just hope to finish this book asap so that I can return to a normal life.
Having worked on a design (but not for apollon) the whole night, I failed to wake up and attend Root Planning this morning. No, I still don't enjoy school, but that's one thing. It doesn't mean I don't need that class. Well, will I be able to do root planning later on?
So the rest of my day has been devoted to my intermediate career, namely tutoring. I tutored one student at hall this afternoon, and a new student in the evening. (Thomas: Thx for that. Ya, you were right. She was fun.)
What's even more breathtaking is that as I returned to hall (at 11.30), I found that my little Snow Leopard has finally arrived. It's cute and sexy. I wanted to wait, but I couldn't resist and I installed it immediately. What impresses me most is that there's not any compatibility issue.
Oh, btw, I also watched Apple's Sept 9 iPod event. To make it short, Steve's back, iTunes 9 is released (which is ugly), and Norah Jones played to conclude the event. Norah Jones played her new song (Young Blood) to conclude the event. For your benefit, I uploaded that to vimeo.
PS Btw, does anyone notice Apple released iTunes 9 on Sept 9, 2009?
Weekend September 6, 2009
I enjoy weekends like never before. After one week of hard labour, few people would not want to enjoy their weekend. Sadly, I only have a break of one day before another exhausting week comes. I don't have much to say, though. Hmm.. perhaps except that I've bought Snow Leopard online, only to find that it won't be delivered any time soon. Like in the stores, there's no stock any where. I just don't understand something as simple as softwares can be out of stock..
Art September 1, 2009
Art is subjective, but experience and time make one's artwork appeal to more people.
My first day back to school is not too bad. I've used to the fact that dentistry (in HKU) is cher, that's why I don't feel so bad as I did last year.
