Sweeney Todd January 31, 2008
Thursday, the only remaining day-off in a week this semester. A day-off is supposed to be for rest. I spent half of it studying, half of it going out with a friend. This suggests that I'm not so successful using my time, right? Anyway I watched Sweeney Todd today. It's not a scary movie, but a brutal one. I'd give 3 out of 5 stars if asked to rate.
Dream January 29, 2008
Because of being sick, what's lost and found, besides the time staying at home, is dreaming. Well, just in case you've never studied Bio, or have studied before but still lack the basic senses, let me tell you something: basically sleeping involves 5 stages: stages 1, 2, 3, 4, and the REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. It is only in the last stage that dreams occur. That means unless you have a complete sleep cycle (or even simpler: enough sleep) you won't get any dream.. People like me, for instance, who merely sleep like three hours a day on average, can hardly dream. Perhaps daydream, yes..
Anyway I did dream a lot these days, some of them are even more than ridiculous. But ladies and gentlemen, sleep is not only beauty, it also extends life. Sleep more.
Happy Birthday January 28, 2008
It's my first school day since I fell sick last Saturday. How am I? I'm not bad, at least I don't vomit anymore.. Even so, I've decided to stay at home for a couple of days before I return to hall. That's why I got up quite early this morning (6.30 actually..) and went to PP just like those not living in a hall.. It's odd, and it's tiring to commute so long, but this is something that I'd been doing for my whole secondary school life, isn't it?
Something unusual happened in today's T1, though - we finished it at 11.15. Wow, that's early, at least under KMB's standard, isn't it? But it feels good, and fairly to say, it's not a rough discussion at all this morning, so..
I joined my friends and have lunch this afternoon. I'm happy that they're kind enough to agree to have congee with me~
So, that's about all for today, unless u want to read this:
Oops, there IS one more thing: Happy Birthday, Athena.
Goodbye Eugene January 27, 2008
Another week-plus without any updates. I've once predicted that K&C might eventually turn into a weekly, whether or not being my intension. No, I've never intended to abandon my site, but sometimes, one would become too busy to do everything he needs to do. In the old days, I used to spend about half an hour an evening to write. If I was supposed to be doing something else, like preparing for the next day's quiz or finishing my lab report, I put them at a lower priority than blogging. The result was lack of sleeping time. Now, there're things more important than blogging; and since there more-important stuff already occupies much of my time, I can only sacrifice something that I've once treasured a lot, if not the most. Yes, blogging used to be the most relaxing moment of a day. I could record what happened, I could post anecdotes, I could reflect myself, ... It's like a moment of pausing a busily running machine, allowing it to cool down a bit, maybe also do some housekeeping, before it resumes to run. We all need breaks. Some investigations even suggest that the optimal time of having breaks for students is at 45-minute intervals. Of course in a city like Hong Kong where hustle and bustle is "eternal", it is not cost-effective at all to have such frequent breaks. But the point is we do need breaks..
Perhaps that's the reason for me to become sick over and over again for the past 3 weeks, and that brings us to the second reason why I've not been showing up here lately. Yes, I've always been ill since the beginning of 2008. I've visited the doctor three times, each time for a different reason. My most recent visit was in this morning, because of problems with my stomach. I got much better now, and let's hope I'll gain a speedy recovery.
* * *
OK, let's get started. But where shall we begin? Maybe right after the previous major update. So, the previous week has been a "maintaining friendship week". No, just jk.. Meeting friends has been a pleasure to me, and indeed I spent much of my time meeting friends. On Sunday, I met Martin and Eugene at CWB for dinner. We had Thai, and it was great. On Monday, (after having a 3-hour-plus T1), I met the same guys at MK. Martin drove, and we went to La Salle. What for? Well, the primary purpose is to get my AL result slip and graduation certificate. The graduation certficate itself wasn't much of a treasure; after all, it was very poorly designed. But I guess the fact that I graduated there is one of the best things in my life, isn't it? Anyway we still managed to talk to some teachers, like Kai Io and Lui Chick. Besides, I did something which I'm still not so sure if it was a wise decision - I joined OBA and paid 200 bucks for that. Anyway we said goodbye to La Salle afterwards, and headed for the next stop - Kln City.
No, we didn't walk like we used to in F.7. As I've said before, Martin drove. Guess what? We went to Eugene's favourite restaurant - "Little Shop". And of course, he ordered his used-to-be only option - Set C. Somehow we followed, but it was not a bad decision anyway.. The food quality didn't change much (not so good, not so bad), but memory is the thing human seeks, isn't? Perhaps next time I should go to Dei Mou, or even order Kam Lok and eat at La Salle, which were another important memories in my high school life..
We visited Megabox afterwards, before leaving for APM. Why visit two malls at a time? Well, as you know, there weren't much entertainment at megabox, so were the number of shoppers. Perhaps it is an important place between another friend of mine and me, but sorry, it wasn't a place for three guys. That's the reason we visited APM.. We didn't say goodbye right after dinner. Instead, we visited Moon Kee, but not APM's. We went to Sai Kung.. It was an enjoyable day, at least in the sense that I haven't done this with friends for so long.. Thx Martin for driving us.

The rest of the week was exhausting. I had two practical sessions on Tue, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. I woke up at 9 on Wed, nearly late for my Chinese tutorial.. We wasted about an hour before it was time for Chinese lecture, and we wasted another hour and a half after the lecture waiting for Ecen in the afternoon. Yes, Ronald is right about the Linguaphone nature of Wednesdays, but I just don't enjoy the day as much as he does in terms of the teachers we meet. Anyway..
Thurs was a day-off without rest, and Friday was T2 day. I think you guys know what happened next. (I fell sick afterwards)..
Despite being sick, I still managed to say goodbye to Eugene in person by meeting him at Jordon on Sat afternoon. Sorry, I knew I left a bit too soon, but I really couldn't make it. Goodbye Eugene, and see you.
There've been good moments this week, but since bad moments predominates, I can concluded that this week sucks.
January 23, 2008
Don't panic, updates will come soon. Meanwhile, Happy Birthday, Martin.
What a week January 19, 2008
This week's been very busy. So busy that it's like my direction has been completely lost. Luckily I finally find my way now, and I hope I'm on the right track. I'm coming back next week.
Well, because I'm so occupied with the bday card for Lee Shau Kee, I've returned to hall now - much earlier than my original plan. Well, I'm too exhausted now, so I gtg. I hope everything'll be completed tomorrow, so that I can move on, and get back to my life. But before that I'd like to show more pix of MBA.
PS Ohhhhhh btw I've installed Office 2008 for mac, which works quite well. That's why I'm posting some pix of it above.
An occupied day-off January 17, 2008
Well, perhaps a more suitable title for today's daily would be "another occupied day-off". As you guys know, I always have days-off on Thurs, but most of them are either occupied or wasted.. Seldom is this day-off in a week fully utilized with its real function - "self-directed learning".. No, I didn't waste this week's holiday, but I spent it on design.. A tough life, agree? What about studying dental stuff? Well, I still have a Friday morning, so let's hope I can finish everything then.Life continues; MBA January 16, 2008
Despite the fact that I'm so busy this week, I think I should still make an effort to update K&C, so as to avoid a too-poor visit figure in the month just before the anniversary month. Yes, talking about anniversary, K&C's fifth anniversary is coming next month, on February 13, a day before valentine's day. As I've said before, the opening of K&C a day just before vday was totally a coincidence. I did not intend to open my site to celebrate the vday five years ago, or else I'd have opened it one day later. But the date Feb 13 now seems a good day in that it doesn't crash with vday, on which we should all be busy. Anyway let's hope for the coming celebrations for our anniversary, esp for those who've been with me all these years.
Life continues. This refers to the 2nd semester again. As I visited the campus this afternoon for Ecen, I found that there was a mega sale at Haking again. There were booths of driving school, 3, computer stuff, credit card, ... It's like the beginning of sem 1 happening all over again. Anyway this is good. At least it makes me feel that I'm at a new beginning, which brings hope.
I manipulated this opportunity to get something I've always wanted - a pair of speakers. They were not bought from the campus though, but Ho Tim Hall instead (another mega sale was available there).. Again, they're white. The sound quality was not superb, but it's good enough for everyday use. So, the photos below show the new set up on my desk, which, together with the iPhone, looks awesome. On the right side you can also see my new Netgear router, which was bought a couple of days ago. It's also white, and it's also awesome.. The new leisure equipment in my room comes at a price, though. Besides that of monetary, the new amount of wire also causes aesthetic problem. Luckily, I've put my mac in front of them, so I can't see them at all in normal cases. And I'm now enjoying them all now.
PS Btw, Ronald told me that I passed my triple jump exam. It's a rare good news, isn't it? But I won't think it's too good to be true, because this exam is like 易「過」借火. XD

Some of you may have noticed the recent change of my screen name in msn to MBA. No, I don't intend to study an MBA up to this moment.. This abbreviation refers to the MacBook Air. Apple announced it yesterday, marketing it as "the world's thinnest notebook". It's thin, it gorgeous, but it doesn't create so much of impact to me as other apple new products used to do in the past. Perhaps it is because I'm now an owner of an apple notebook and phone.. Life's strange, isn't it?
New semester, numerous stuff to do January 14, 2008
Well, I never know that a new semester implies increased workload.. My latest job include making a bday card to LSK.. No, I don't mean to the hall, but LSK himself.. Feeling some pressure huh? Let's hope I'll get the job done.
Btw, I hope you guys are satisfied with my extra-long entry yesterday, which serves to compensate for my absence in the past few days. And I hope you'll come back soon.
Delay no more January 13, 2008
Well, I have insisted not to update my blog until I have time to write a good entry. Apparently, I lack the time to do so for the past 10 days. A lot of things could happen in 10 days. After all, it only took 8 days for man to go to the Moon and return to Earth, and it took only 7 days for God to create the world. I'm not God, nor am I an astronaut, but indeed a lot of things happened..
On Jan 4, I finished my triple jump. It's not that difficult.. Most questions were straight forward enough for someone who has done something to pass. Let's hope I'm one of them. Anyway the subsequent days had been days for rest, leisure, and again, lessons. Yep, we had a long long "sem break" for two days on Sat and Sun, and our U live resumed on Mon. Some say studying dentistry is not too tough - at least you've got lots of free time during the week. I disagree. Have you guys ever had an exam that you won't know what to study until the week you're having it, and have you tried not having at least a week's holiday after exam? What's more, it's going to be a 3-week exam period for our finals, and we are not going to have our summer vacation until mid July. What is this life? Cmon, I really need a long long vacation. You'll see why if you continue to read.
On Jan 7, a new module began. I had KMB Chan as my facilitator again. Well, Annie says it's good because we can have real discussions in his group. I agree. But I guess I'm too used to our easy life finishing our T1 at 10.30 during module 2.. "You'll get used to it sooner or later," said a friend. Well, I hope so. Something special happened after T1 though. Ivan and Ronald, who finished their tutorials at least an hour earlier than I did, invited me for lunch, though the true reason was unknown. Was I such a good friend to them that they waited for me, or was that just a coincidence? Well, I used to think in the negative way, now I should learn to be positive. That's good, isn't it? But there was one more surprise. "Kevin, come asap. There's a VIP," said Ronald on the phone. "Is that KMB?" I asked. "You'll see." Indeed it was. Together Ivan, Ronald and I ate with KMB at Sammi Restaurant, along with C-to and Andy. Hum, new semester started nice enough. Perhaps it's because I was wearing all black that day, which, I believe, brings luck.

The next thing I'd like to talk about is Helen's wedding (banquet) on Sunday, Jan 6. Helen is my eldest cousin who migrated to Germany when she was young. She married Peer, a German, last summer, and flew back to HK for a banquet for us. Congrats, Helen.

The next few days of the week comprises stressful times, as the new semester starts and I have to start studying again. I regained my motivation after this exam, especially now that I'm in KMB's group again. I hope this will continue. However I did find some ways to ease my stress. On Tuesday Eugene came to my hall to visit, and brought me something, which I will later talk about. We asked Martin out as well, and we had dinner at TST. Two actually, one at a Japanese restaurant, another at Sweet Dynasty. The later was better, but the whole night was overall enjoyable. On Wednesday I sang K with her for the whole afternoon, which was something I haven't done for ages. It was fun..
Thursday was, again, time to meet friends. But before that I attended a practical session at PP. This time we were instructed to take the very first radiographs by ourselves. "Don't worry, you don't need to close the door. There isn't much radiation," said the radiologist. Well, I guess in my future practice, I would do so, just in case.. Anyway meeting friends was fun. It was very rare to have 5 of us together, so I felt quite odd actually.. There were even a few moments that I felt like fab five.. Anyway..
One more thing is that I finally got my iPhone. Thx to Eugene for bringing it from US. It's now been fully unlocked, and I just enjoy the experience using it. If you remember how much of shock the introduction of iPhone brought to the world just a year ago, I'm now feeling an equally great magnitude of satisfaction with it.
"Delay no more." Yes, it refers to a new entry in K&C. I apologize for abandoning my site during my stressful times. But I did this simply because of my quest for perfection, that I'd rather skip an entry than write bull shit. Thx for coming back if you read this, and see you soon.
Revision January 3, 2008
The weather was extremely good this morning, and I went to Sai Wan extremely early for breakfast. No, I didn't intend to get up early. As a matter of fact, I didn't sleep last night. The reason behind is of course studying for exam. I made some progress last night, and I'm now continuing this progress. WIsh me luck.
Tomorrow, I'll be free again. School starts right after the coming weekend. But, well, it's time to adapt to this. Perhaps we'll feel better when we consider everyday a holiday.
Another new beginning January 1, 2008
Happy New Year! The new year has come quietly, just as the old has gone. New year, new beginning, new challenges. What's lying ahead is unknown, but we are all used to hope everything as good as it's supposed to be in a new year, if not even better. Anyway a more realistic new-year wish is to pass this triple jump. Any more? Well, perhaps give me some good reasons to become a dentist.
The new-year entry must be written. Same as last year, but on the contrary to the years before last, there's no review for events in 2007. I've been damn busy these days.. I don't even have time for updating every night, let alone writing a review article.. Anyway if you guys want to review what happened in a harmonious year as 2007, there's a good archive of K&C's old entries, right?
The popularity index of the last month of 2007 surprisingly surged a lot, if not miraculously. There's been (33569-32495) 1074 visits in December, or on average 34.6 visits per day. Thx so much. Now I have one more new-year wish: I hope K&C's popularity would flourish this year.
